Every Sunday afternoon, learners play for their class in a live, turn-by-turn quiz hosted in the Arena. Three knockout rounds end in a class final. Points from each Sunday add up over the month, and the last Sunday of the month is prize Sunday.
The Sunday competition only runs live, with real classes, so there is no screenshot of it in this playbook. Every rule below is taken from the app's own settings.
Who can play
| Class | Subjects |
|---|---|
| Basic 4, 5, 6 | English, Mathematics, Basic Science & Technology, Current Affairs |
| JSS 1, 2, 3 | English, Mathematics, Basic Science & Technology, Current Affairs |
| SS 1, 2, 3 — Science | English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Current Affairs |
| SS 1, 2, 3 — Humanities | English, Mathematics, Government, Economics, Arts, Current Affairs |
Basic 1 to 3 do not take part (the format is too fast for them). Questions are in English, follow the class's syllabus, and are the same for every player in the class that week. A question already asked in an earlier competition is not asked again.
The Sunday timetable (Lagos time)
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Friday 16:00 | Reminder: "Class competition this Sunday" |
| Sunday 09:00 | Reminder: "Class competition today" |
| Sunday 15:50 | Reminder: "Starts in 10 minutes" |
| Sunday 16:00 – 17:00 | Round 1 — new players can join only in this hour |
| 20 minutes after round 1 closes (so 17:20 at the earliest) | Round 2 — the round 1 batch winners |
| 20 minutes after round 2 ends | Round 3 — the class final |
How one game (a "batch") works
- You join and wait in a batch of up to 6 players. It starts when it is full, or after 2 minutes of waiting.
- The host welcomes everyone.
- Each question goes to one player at a time, chosen at random, while the others watch.
- That player has 20 seconds to answer. (Answers sent in time but slowed by the network get 3 extra seconds of grace.)
- Everyone sees the answer, then the next question goes to the next player.
- Each player gets 5 questions per subject: 20 for Basic and JSS, 30 for SS.
Scoring in a batch
| Answer | Points |
|---|---|
| Right | 100, plus up to 100 more for speed (the more time left, the more points) |
| Wrong or no answer | 0 |
The winner of the batch is the player with the most points; a tie goes to whoever used less total answer time. You only count as playing once you have answered at least one question.
The knockout rounds
- Round 1: everyone plays in batches. Each batch winner goes through.
- Round 2: the winners are spread over as few batches of 6 as possible, strongest players spread apart. Each batch winner goes through.
- Round 3 — the class final: the best 6 play one last batch. The winner is the class champion for the day.
A learner who wins more than one batch still takes only one seat.
Monthly points
Every Sunday except the last earns points, for how far you got that day:
| Furthest you got on a Sunday | Points |
|---|---|
| Took a seat in round 1 | 10 |
| Reached round 2 | 20 |
| Reached the final | 40 |
| Won the final | 70 |
Only your best stage that day counts (points do not stack within one Sunday). The class table ranks by points; ties go to more Sundays played, then the higher total game score.
Prize Sunday (the last Sunday of the month)
- Prize Sunday earns no points — it decides the month's champion.
- The class's top 3 on points get a head start: they skip round 1 and start in round 2.
- The class's top 3 MMT earners for the month are offered a seat straight in the class final (see MMT tokens). Someone who is already an MMT finalist is passed over for a head start, and the next learner on points takes it.
- The final has 6 seats, filled in this order: MMT finalists who took their seat, then round 2 batch winners, then the best round 2 runners-up.
- The final's winner is the class's monthly champion.
When a prize is given
| Condition | Needed |
|---|---|
| Players in the class that day | at least 3 |
| The champion's right answers | at least half of their questions |
If either is missing, the prize is held back that month.
