Adding a friend
- Every learner has a short friend code (6 letters and numbers) and a link that holds it.
- Give your code in person or by link. Codes can't be searched for.
- Your friend enters the code. You tap Accept.
- You are now friends. Only first names and avatars are ever shown.
You can send up to 10 friend requests a day. Blocked learners can never send each other requests.
Friend streak: days in a row on which both of you played an Arena game. Weekly friend challenge: who climbed more ladder steps this week (Monday to Sunday). No Sparks change hands.
The friend games
Class Rally and Replay Rival use the same 5 questions from one lesson section for everyone. Pass & Play gives each player 5 different questions.
| Game | How it works | Sparks |
|---|---|---|
| Class Rally | Play live with classmates. A 10-second countdown, then everyone plays at once | 2 per right answer |
| Replay Rival | Set a score for a friend to beat; they play the same questions later | 2 per right answer for your friend (replaying your own score earns nothing) |
| Pass & Play | 2 to 4 players share one phone, offline | Phone owner only |
Class Rally, step by step
- In the Arena, tap Class Rally ("Play live with friends") and pick the classmates to invite.
- Everyone joins the room. When the host starts, a 10-second countdown begins.
- Everyone answers the 5 questions. The round lasts at least 3 minutes; with the clock on (or reading-heavy questions) it lasts twice the questions' total reading time, if that is longer.
- The board shows the results.
Who wins
- Most right answers wins.
- With the clock on, a tie is broken by less total answer time.
- Learners with exactly the same result share the place (1, 1, 3 …).
- Anyone who did not finish gets no place.
Rematch
After a friend game you can play a rematch. A rematch uses fresh questions at a similar difficulty from the same lesson — never the old questions dressed up as new.
Pass & Play
- Choose 2, 3 or 4 players.
- Player 1 (the signed-in phone owner) takes a turn of 5 questions.
- A cover screen hides the answers while the phone is passed on.
- Each player gets 5 different questions from the lesson.
- Compare scores at the end. Works fully offline.
Help a friend
- Send a classmate or friend a quick game at a chosen level. You can send 3 a day.
- Your friend has 7 days to play that game at the same level or a harder one.
- When they do, they earn +10 Sparks and you earn +5, once each (inside the daily limit).
Helping friends also counts toward the ladder's social steps.
